Your Options

Choosing your options doesn’t have to be complicated. You can do the following:

  • Stay in education
  • Do an Apprenticeship
  • Get a job preferably with training attached
  • Do some voluntary work

If you are unsure about your options speak to a Connexions Personal Adviser either in school, college, community or at your local Connexions Centre.

Where do you start?

Why don’t you think about what you enjoy and your interests and then look for a job, course or training around that area. There are lots of courses and training opportunities available on the Area Wide Prospectus.

What is the Area Wide Prospectus (AWP)?

The Area Wide Prospectus is a website developed to help you search for courses and training opportunities in your area. Each provider gives you an idea of what they expect from you and the entry requirements needed to access the course or training. Start your start by logging on to www.doncasterchoices1419.org.uk

How to apply for a course or training from AWP?

If you decide to apply for a course or training at a sixth form/college or training provider then you may be able to apply through the Common Application Process sometimes called CAP.

Using CAP is easy, you no longer have to send off lots of application forms all you need to do is fill in one application form online. This will be sent to your selected provider/institution and you will then be contacted through CAP or you will receive a letter at home to give you further information.

If you are unsure how to use CAP, then ask for help from your Connexions Personal Adviser either in school or at your local Connexions Centre or Careers Co-ordinator in school.
