Do voluntary work

To help you get some work experience you may choose to do some voluntary work. Being a volunteer means you give up your spare time to help other people without being paid.

By doing voluntary work:

  • You will get to learn lots of new skills.
  • It will give you some experience to help you get a job.
  • It can help build your confidence and social skills.
  • You will meet lots of new friends.
  • You will be able to try a work area to see if you like it before you get a job.
  • It will look good when applying for jobs or courses.

You can do voluntary work in lots of different work areas for example:

  • Sport and Leisure
  • Construction
  • Health and social care
  • Music
  • Environment and nature.
