Do voluntary work
To help you get some work experience you may choose to do some voluntary work. Being a volunteer means you give up your spare time to help other people without being paid.
By doing voluntary work:
- You will get to learn lots of new skills.
- It will give you some experience to help you get a job.
- It can help build your confidence and social skills.
- You will meet lots of new friends.
- You will be able to try a work area to see if you like it before you get a job.
- It will look good when applying for jobs or courses.
You can do voluntary work in lots of different work areas for example:
- Animal care
- Sport and Leisure
- Construction
- Health and social care
- Music
- Environment and nature.
