If you choose to do a course or see a job you like you will have to:
- Fill in an application form or send a Curriculum Vitae
- Go for an interview
What is an Application Form?
- An application form helps an employer/tutor learn more about you, what skills you have and the type work experience.
- They will use this to see if you are suitable for the course or job you are interested in. If you are suitable then you will be asked to go to an interview.
What is a Curriculum Vitae? (CV)
A Curriculum Vitae (CV) tells the employer or tutor:
- What you have done at school or college.
- What your skills and achievements are.
- What are you hobbies and interest.

What is an Interview?
An interview is a two way conversation between you and the employer or tutor.
You will need to do some preparation before the interview.
Think about:
What you need to wear?
- Get your clothes ready the night before.
- Make sure it is clean and ironed.
- If you are not sure what you want to wear then speak to your family and friends they may be able to help you.
How you get there?
- Think about how you plan to get there.
- What time do you need to be there? Give yourself plenty of time, you may get stuck in traffic.
- Do you need to go on the bus, train or tram? Make sure you know the bus/tram number, or train station.
- Do a practice run if you are unsure.
First impressions count?
- Make sure you find out about the company you have applied for.
- Make a list of questions you may be asked and write your answer.
- Practice your interview skills.
- Make a list of questions you would like to ask the interviewer.
- Think about your body language, sit up straight, smile and relax.
- Remember to thank the interviewer for seeing you.
