Not sure what subjects to study to get your ideal job? Or what to do when you leave school? Or perhaps you’ve left school but still unsure what you want to do?

You need to start thinking about what you want to do for a job, it may be that you know what you want to do but not sure how to get there or simply unclear about which work area would best suit you.

Getting the right information, advice and guidance is important to help you make informed choices when leaving school. To help you get started you need to seek further information, advice and guidance from a Connexions Personal Adviser.

What are my options?

There are lots of options to think about when leaving school, you may want to:

  • Carry on with your studies by going to college or sixth form.
  • Go in to a job preferably with learning attached.
  • Go in to work based learning such as an Apprenticeship.
  • Think about being your own boss and becoming self employed.

Where did Year 11 school leavers go in 2010?

The majority of students (80.8%) continued in their studies either at sixth form or college. 7.9% of students entered work based learning and 6.6% went in to employment.
